Eight-member Elsevier delegation visits OVPR

Good research deserves wide exposure so that benefits of research reach wider community… Prof. Taher Al-Sahhaf

Discussions center on the value of publishing high quality research outputs


An eight-member Elsevier delegation recently visited the Research Sector (RS) and was received by the Vice President for Research, Prof. Taher Al-Sahhaf, and his assistants Prof.Haider Behbehani and Prof. Laila Marouf on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. The visiting delegation was headed by Mr. Youngsuk ‘YS’ Chi, Director, Elsevier publishing company, Netherlands, and the discussions primarily centered on wide exposure and value of high quality publications. Welcoming the delegates, Prof. Taher said that the Research Sector was in the pursuit of promoting high quality research at Kuwait University, and encouraging the faculty research community to author and publish world-class scientific papers that hold scientific distinction and impact.


Held within the framework of shared interest in the value of high quality research, the meeting signified RS belief that good research deserves wide exposure and publication so that benefits of research reach wider community, and improve global assessment and development of research outputs in delivering high-value research outputs and publications in high impact journals, keeping the research community updated as regards the basics of authoring and writing successful, distinguished and high quality scientific papers.


As regards scientific publishing, Elsevier is one of the major publishing companies in the world, holding publishing collaborations for more than 20,000 products for specialized and educational needs in the fields of science and health care around the world. These products help researchers accomplish discoveries, and cooperate with governments and universities to evaluate and enhance new research strategies. Apart from the Director, the visiting delegates also included Mr. Phil Cooke, Senior Analyst, Mr. Basal Mehmet Tayfun, Regional Director, Elsevier, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Zaki Elgebealy, Regional Accounts Manager, Gulf, Elsevier, Mr. Shadi Awwad, Research Intelligence Sales Manager, Mr. Jamal Al-Alawi, Executive Director, Virtus National Co., Mr. Mohamed Abbas, Marketing Manager, Virtus National, and Mr. Yunus Pulparambil, Operation Manager, Virtus National.
