RS Announces Scheduling of Poster Day Event for the Academic year 2017/18

Poster Day for Humanities and Social Sciences faculties to be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018

Poster Day for Scientific Faculties scheduled for Wednesday, March 14, 2018

Faculty Members, Teaching Assistants and Graduate Students invited to participate

The Research Sector announces the scheduling of its annual Poster Day event for the academic year 2017/18 for scientific, and humanities & social sciences faculties. The event to be held under the patronage and presence of Kuwait University President, Prof. Hussein Al-Ansari, is to be hosted by the Vice President for Research, Prof. Taher Al-Sahhaf, as an annual commitment for organized display of faculties latest research accomplishments on the posters platform. The purpose is to create an interactive environment for shared interests and ideas that could lead to new concepts, scientific innovation and multidisciplinary research, as well as ensure visibility and exposure of latest advances in faculty research at Kuwait University.

This rationale is the guiding principle for the annual holding of the scientific Poster Day event, the dates for which have been set. Accordingly, the Poster day for the Humanities and Social Sciences faculties would be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at 9:30 am. at the College of Business administration, Shuwaikh Campus. For the Scientific Faculties, Posters event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 9:30 am. at faculty of Science, Khaldiya Campus.

The Research Sector invites, and looks forward to, active participation of faculty members, teaching assistants and graduate students in the Poster Day event. RS will start accepting applications for participation, and a committee will be formed by faculties’ representatives, for evaluation and short-listing of best posters. Winners of top three posters in each category will receive monetary incentive awards, as outlined below:


• Category I -- Faculty Members
A total amount of KD. 1000/- is earmarked for top three winners in the Faculty Members category, with the amount distributed as follows:
- KD. 500/- for the First top ranking poster
- KD. 300/- for the Second winning poster
- KD. 200/- for the Third Poster winner

• Category – II -- Teaching Assistants
An amount of KD. 800 is allocated for the top three posters in the Teaching Assistants category, with following entitlements:
- KD. 350/- for the First best poster
- KD. 250/- for the Second best poster
- KD. 200/- for the Third award-winning poster

• Category III - Graduate Students:
KD 600/- is allocated for the first three award winning posters in the Graduate Students category, with following entitlements:
- KD. 250/- for the First best poster
- KD. 200/- for the Second best poster
- KD. 150/- for the Third winning poster.

Note that the deadline for submitting the poster is 15/1/2018

 Poster award winning researchers, achieving the top three slots in each category, will also receive letters of acknowledgement, and their names published on the Research Sector’s website, along with the abstract of their award winning research.
